Michael C. Marangola, CFP®, ChFC®, CLU®, of Marangola Financial Group is not new to the FPA Ventura County Chapter's Board of Directors having previously served under President Alan Ungar. The benefits of being a FPA member and taking an active part meet not only Mike's thirst for continuing education and keeping abreast of all things financial, but also his desire to help people.

Recognizing that the more he knows the better he can serve his clients, Mike finds the programs presented at the area coordinator discussion groups informative, up to date and well worth the time spent. Add to that the quarterly educational programs and you can't miss much if anything. While not identifying with any one political philosophy, he watches closely what the legislators at all levels are doing and is concerned about how their actions affect the economy and the financial planning industry. As a result, he has accepted the Advocacy Chair position on the chapter board. He rounds out his constant need to keep abreast though his membership in the Ed Slott's Elite IRA Advisor Group a conglomerate of 400 financial advisors from throughout the US who meet several times a year with experts who address the ever changing IRS laws.

"As a financial planner and registered tax preparer, Mike views the whole financial planning process through the lens of a tax expert. His conviction is that the biggest risk that Americans face in retirement is not stock market volatility or low interest rates, but rather higher taxes in the future. Bridging the gap between a traditional investment advisor and a CPA/tax preparer, Mike feels he is able to unleash the power of the financial planning process by integrating the investment strategy with the tax strategy."

"Mike believes to be truly happy and successful in a career, one must find the intersection of what they're good at and what they enjoy doing. He loves analysis, problem solving, the ever changing political, economic, and legal environment, and the ability to help people in a truly meaningful way. He considers himself very lucky to have found a career that utilizes his strengths and allows him to make a positive difference in peoples's lives." (Quoted material taken from Michael C. Marangola bio.)

He earned his Bachelor of Arts, Political Economy of Industrial Societies at University of California, Berkeley, and completed the CFP Professional Education Program, College of Financial Planning. His current licenses include: FINRA General Securities Representative Series 7, FINRA General Securities Principal Series 24, FINRA Uniform Securities Agent Law Exam Series 63, FINRA Uniform Investment Advisors Law Exam Series 65, CTEC Registered Tax Preparer, California Life Insurance Agent.

Clients are not the only people Mike helps. He engages interns in his office activities and recently hired an intern as part of his permanent staff. He's also been active with the Boy Scouts of America and the Pacific Corinthian Youth Foundation, a sailing program for youth.

Whether it's sailing, backpacking, or hiking, Mike likes to spend his time outside the office with family in the great outdoors. He and his wife, Alissa, have four children and currently live in Newbury Park. Mike's dad, Joe Marangola, a former army officer is also a financial planner, mostly retired now, but frequently visits the office to see if they pass inspection.
